The HDD Sonde (Transmitter) is the core locating component for horizontal directional drilling. Installed inside the drill head housing, it emits continuous electromagnetic signals. Operators use a surface locator receiver to track real-time drill data: depth, pitch, roll and horizontal position, to steer the bore path and avoid existing underground utilities.

The HDD Sonde (Transmitter) is the core locating component for horizontal directional drilling. Installed inside the drill head housing, it emits continuous electromagnetic signals. Operators use a surface locator receiver to track real-time drill data: depth, pitch, roll and horizontal position, to steer the bore path and avoid existing underground utilities.

Used for trenchless horizontal directional drilling (HDD) pipeline crossing projects (underground installation of fiber-optic cables, gas lines, and water supply and drainage pipes).
A probe is installed inside the drill bit and continuously emits electromagnetic signals; a ground-based guidance system receiver captures these signals to provide real-time readings of the drill bit’s:
· depth underground, horizontal position,
· inclination, and azimuth (to determine the drill bit’s orientation, enabling the driller to adjust the drilling path).
