HDD Drilling Case : ZT-42 Rig for PE110mm × 5-Hole × 150m Communication Pipeline

A 150-meter communication pipeline installation project adopted the ZT-42 horizontal directional drilling rig as the core equipment. Project Execution Highlights

• Power Support for Drilling : The ZT-42 rig is equipped with a 179 kW Cummins engine, delivering a maximum torque of 18500 N.m and adjustable rotation speed of 0-165 rpm. This power configuration provided stable force for the 150m drilling operation, while the 420 kN max pulling force and 840 kN max thrusting force ensured the safe and efficient laying of the 5-hole PE110mm pipeline.
• Efficient Drilling & Mud Circulation : With a pulling speed of 0-50 m/min, the rig optimized the pipeline pullback process. Its mud pump, with a maximum displacement of 450 L/min and maximum pressure of 8 Mpa, maintained hole stability during construction, which is essential for the smooth progress of horizontal directional drilling work.
• Flexible On-site Adaptability : The rig’s entry angle range of 8-20 degrees allowed precise adjustment according to the project’s drilling path requirements. With dimensions of 6980×2280×2500 mm and a walking speed of 2.3 km/h, it showed good maneuverability for on-site positioning and movement.
